Mercy Ships

Mercy Ships is a non-profit organization that operates ocean-going vessels to bring physical and spiritual healing to the poor and needy around the world. Following Christ’s example, Mercy Ships serves nations through medical care, relief, development, training and evangelism. Mercy Ships aims to serve one million people annually.  Since 1978, Mercy Ships has:

  1. Performed 56,000 operations onboard such as cleft lip and palate, cataract, crossed-eyes, orthopedic and facial reconstruction.
  2. Treated more than 520,000 people in village medical clinics.
  3. Performed services impacting 2.9 million people, valued at more than $834 million.
  4. Taught local health care workers, who have in turn trained multiplied thousands in primary health care.
  5. Trained local medical professionals in modern health techniques.
  6. Provided tens of millions of dollars of medical equipment, hospital supplies, and medicines.
  7. Completed 1,100 community development projects focusing on water, sanitation, education, infrastructure development, and agriculture.
  8. Completed over 563 port visits in 53 developing nations and 17 developed countries.
